PONGAL CELEBRATION - 2025
The Hindu people celebrate Pongal, which is a harvest festival. People give thanks to the Sun God on this day for an abundance of agricultural harvests. Tamil Nadu, an Indian state, is where the celebration is most well-known. Makar Sankranti is celebrated on the same day as the harvest festival. Usually, people celebrate Lohri and Pongal on the same day.
The Tamil term for "overflowing" is "pongal." This celebration is a symbol of success, wealth, abundance, and well-wishing. The Pongal Festival extends four days. The Pongal festival includes four days, which are referred to as Bhogi, Surya, Mattu, and Kaanum.
On Friday, January 11, 2025, MVM SCHOOL, Pondicherry celebrated Pongal in a stunning and traditional way. Children from MVM SCHOOL enthusiastically and actively took part in the celebration.
The children of MVM wore brightly colored traditional clothing. Vibrant Rangoli, decorative pots, and sugarcane all contributed to the celebration's magnificence. Pongal was offered to the Sun God after being prepared in earthen pots.
The house-wise students engaged in a variety of artistic activities, including tug-of-war, rangoli,Uriyadi, , folk dance and Silambam.
Finally, the celebration concluded with a feast of Sakkarai Pongal (sweet pongal) cooked in an earthen pot and handed to everybody who gathered.
